Busy
Bee Program -
3’s
and 4’s
The
Busy Bee Academic Program is designed to encourage the pre-school
(3's & 4's)
to explore a variety of basic concepts and skills such as counting,
shape and color recognition, opposites and positional concepts
through developmentally
appropriate, hands-on activities. Exciting hands-on experiences
provide for the integration of basic concepts and
skills, thereby making
learning more meaningful. Enrichment sheets are
used to reinforce discoveries
the children make and help them share new knowledge with their
parents.
Our
teachers hold one of the most important and difficult jobs in society
today - they are helping to raise America's future. They care for
the children, nurture them, and help them to grow. This takes a very
special person. Keep in mind, however, that you the parents are also
a vital part of this process. In order to integrate some of the school
activities with home activities, we send home a monthly curriculum
calendar. Our curriculum is divided into nine monthly calendars from
September to May followed by our Adventures Summer Program. Each
calendar explains what your child will be learning and the concept
and skills he/she will practice.
The
Busy Bees Academic Program is designed by Creative Early Learning
Centers Program Director, with additional daily activities the classroom
teachers contribute. By involving children in activities which are
developmentally appropriate, the Busy Bees Program helps to build
each child's self-esteem through successful experiences. Encouraging
children to try and praising them for their efforts, cultivates self-esteem
as well. A positive self-esteem is one of the most valuable tools
children can acquire during their early years. The following contains
the overall goals which provide the framework for the development
of the child enrolled in our Busy Bee's Program.

Program Goals
• Language Art Skills - We
follow the Language Experience Approach. The children’s receptive
and expressive language is enhanced through the use of books, finger-play,
nursery rhymes, poetry and discussions.
• Reading Readiness - The children will be exposed to reading
readiness skills such as recognizing letters, auditory discrimination of pictures
that begin with the same sound, sound/letter association (phonics for those children
who are ready).
• Math - We feel that children learn best through direct experiences.
The skills they will work on using hands-on experiences are recognizing and counting
0-12, classification, estimation, sequencing and understanding what written and
spoken numbers mean.
• Science - The science activities the children will participate
in are aimed at encouraging observation, comparison, exploration, testing, inquiry
and problem solving.
• Art - Art for the Explorers is a creative process that allows
for choice, exploration and imaginative expression using the many art materials
available. Each child’s work should be unique and recognizably different
from another’s.
• Music - The goals of our music experiences are to develop appreciation,
participation, responsiveness, and musical competencies such as listening, performance,
rhythm and creativity.
